The Apostle Paul famously wrote, of the Devil, in his second epistle to the Corinthians,
For we are not unaware of his schemes~ 2 Cor 2:11
But it strikes me that, as much as possible, Satan is a stealth operator. It is strange really, when you consider the effects of his dominion and influence. Paul says elsewhere, the acts of the sinful nature (the very things the Devil wants to bring about) are obvious (Gal 5:19). They are sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery, and where we see the increase of these things through societal changes and cultural endorsements, we can assume that his hand is at work. It is obvious, and yet, despite the paradox, at the same time there is a subtlety to how he works, a kind of hiding in plain sight. The Devil himself is not responsible for all the sin we see but 'The Spirit of the Air is at work in the son's of disobedience (Eph 2:2). You see, wherever people are disobeying God (and that means everywhere) there is a scheme of Satan at play.
Many wiser heads than mine have attempted (and some succeeded) to explain the mechanics of the Devil's works, and I wont add much theological weight to that subject (though I hope it will be resonant and truthful) but I wanted to write this blog dedicated to exposing what I see of him in my culture and in our world. I suppose that I feel the need to testify to what I see. It's a duty and, if it leads anyone to question and perhaps turn to God and his word for answers, then I consider it worthwhile.
C S Lewis, one of the successful aforementioned folk to explain the 'mechanics' of the domain of darkness* astutely observes that Satan's preferred mode of operation is in secret. The last thing he really wants is for you to think about his existence, the result ending potentially in a turning to the solution, which he would rather avoid.
Fortunately, as his children, God has given us gifts of discernment. Paul was able to confidently identify and expose the situation he addresses in the second chapter of 2 Corinthians, where a potential incident of unforgiveness was wide open to exploitation. Paul's remedy? To shut it down with swift but genuine forgiveness and with the restoration of relationship.
If we understand his working methods we can respond with Godly wisdom, and so this blog will be for the explicit exposure of what I discern his schemes to be in society and culture at large.
It may be blunt. I may call people out. It may get gnarly. I might get cancelled. But for as long as God allows (and the insights flow) I aim to speak out here whatever I see.
